Intentional

I have done this blog thing a time or two, but I always seem to get side tracked. That is my way of having an excuse for not making it a priority. But, my word for 2020 is intentional, so I suppose I should be intentional about blogging. I have never been one to have a word for this year, but looking over my goals, they all lead to being intentional in life. I am going to dive a little deeper in how this looks in different areas of my life. And my boss at school is big into having a word, so he sorta got me hooked on them.

Intentional with Time

Here is a big one because we are all so busy running from one place to the next. Time is something we can never get more of and we can never reverse, so we have to be intentional on how we spend it. This year, I want to intentionally spend time with friends and family. This means putting down the cell phone, silencing the notifications, and being strict about spending uninterrupted time with them. It also means that I want to plan my day out to ensure that I am not wasting time doing silly or meaningless tasks.

Intentional with Relationships

We all have friends, but do you have friendships that you are fostering and growing. I don't want to sit stagnant in my relationships and wished I would have went and visited, called or texted. We have the world at the tips of our fingers but we can't even pick up the phone to say "Happy Birthday"? This year, I want to intentionally speak with friends and family more often. I want to remind them of how much I care and love them frequently. I want to be intentional about growing and nurturing those relationships.

Intentional with my Job

We all wear many hats, and a job can be defined in many different ways. When you think of my job, you probably think of me as a teacher right away. Which is true, but I also think about my job as a homemaker, a wife, and coach. What ever your job is, I hope you can be intentional about being the best that you can be. I want to be intentional about why we are learning each lesson. I want to be intentional about doing the small tasks at home so my husband doesn't feel as stressed when he comes home from a long day. I want to visualize the best and be the best in all my jobs. That might mean that I intentionally skip watching an episode of Netflix to get ahead for the week. It might means intentionally sacrificing something for the benefit of another.

I could keep going on and on, but these are the main three that I really want to focus on going into 2020. Being intentional with my time, my relationships, and my jobs. These are the things that really mean the most to me & I hope that this word will keep me grounded throughout the year.

So, have you thought of your word for 2020 yet? If so, I want to know what it is! Comment it, email it, text it, but I want to know what your word for 2020 is!
